Artist residency with Luzie Meyer invited by Mint Konsthall.
Meyer (born in 1990, based in Berlin) works across video, sound, writing, and performance, attending to the ways affect becomes sedimented in bodies through language, gestus, and habit. Her practice approaches subjectivity as something continually composed and recomposed. Through formal interventions in montage and direction, she explores the sensuous force of spoken and written words. A sustained attraction to forms bearing the emotional residue of other historical moments informs her practice, particularly their heightened rhetoric and emotional intensity, which generate unexpected continuities with the present. Meyer’s works cultivate a formal restraint that accommodates observation, sentiment, and theatricality, while remaining grounded in experimentation and phenomenological inquiry.
At NKF, Luzie Meyer will develop a series of analogue photographs emerging from her recent performance Trauerspiel, alongside an evening of performances and screenings featuring her own work and that of artists based locally.
