NKF welcomes Lauri Lohi for a residency at the Nordic Guest Studio. LAURI LOHI (they/them) is a performer and mover active in Finland, Sweden and Northern Europe. Lohi‘s art draws inspiration from transformations, fantastical creatures, queer-utopias, clownery, internet, absurd comedy and erotic performance. They are a physical performer with their background in club- and street dance styles, mime and contemporary dance. As an artist with their background in visual arts, Lohi’s performances are a mixture of vivid stage imagery, grand gestures and drama.
As one of the four members of the drag king collective Out of Sync, drag king art currently shapes a large portion of their work.
About their time at the Nordic Guest Studio, Lohi says
During this residency, together with director Mille Bostedt and the working group, I am working on the musical HYBRID. In the piece I get to explore fusing together my mime and movement practises while performing the cartoonish, mad scientist character of Rory.
