Redefining Residency
Talk with the curator Taru Elfving at the Nordic guest studio Malongen on the 17th of February at 18:00 - Redefining Residency, is a project that explores sustainable and solidary exchanges in the midst of the climate crisis, pandemic and global injustice.
Welcome to a talk with the Helsinki-based curator Taru Elfving, as part of the Redefining Residency program. Elfving is a curator and writer with a practice focused on site-sensitive enquiries at the intersections of ecological and feminist thought. She is a co-editor of the anthology Contemporary Artist Residencies. Reclaiming Time and Space (Valiz 2019).
She will present her current research with artists on the island of Seili in collaboration with the Archipelago Research Institute as artistic director of CAA Contemporary Art Archipelago (https://contemporaryartarchipelago.org/). She will discuss, for example, undisciplinary fieldwork, collective retreat from the state of emergency, and making kin with microscopic plankton.

Redefining Residency is run by artists Alvaro Campo and My Lindh. The project group also includes curator Sara Rossling and artist Jacqueline Hoàng Nguyên. The project is run within the framework of NKF with the support of the Stockholm Region.

Redefining Residency är ett projekt som undersöker hållbara och solidariska utbyten i en tid av klimatkris, pandemi och global orättvisa.
Välkommen till ett samtal med den Helsingforsbaserade curatorn Taru Elfving, som en del av Redefining Residency-programmet. Elfving är en curator vars praktik fokuserar på platskänsliga undersökningar i skärningspunkten mellan ekologisk och feministisk tankevärld. Hon leder för närvarande en multidisciplinär plattform för konstnärlig forskning på den finska ön Själö, i samarbete med Skärgårdshavets forskningsinstitut. Elfving är medredaktör till antologin Contemporary Artist Residencies. Reclaiming Time and Space (Valiz 2019).
Hon kommer att presentera sin aktuella forskning med konstnärer på ön Själö i samarbete med Skärgårdshavets forskningsinstitut och i egenskap av konstnärlig ledare för CAA Contemporary Art Archipelago (https://contemporaryartarchipelago.org/) Hon kommer även exempelvis att diskutera odisciplinärt fältarbete, kollektivt tillbakadragande från ett tillstånd av kris, och att söka frändskap med mikroskopiska plankton.

Redefining Residency drivs av konstnärerna Alvaro Campo och My Lindh. Projektgruppen består också av curatorn Sara Rossling och konstnären Jacqueline Hoàng Nguyên. Projektet drivs inom ramen för Nordiska konstförbundet och med stöd av Region Stockholm.
